Blog 5 - I promise I didn’t forget about this…

If you’re reading this, you probably noticed that it’s been way too long since I last posted. If I’m totally honest, just thinking about this blog over the past few months made me feel overwhelmed. At one point, I even considered abandoning it all together. But the more I though about it, the more I realized – this neglected blog perfectly reflects the rollercoaster that is graduate school!

I’ve officially started my third year (yeah, I don’t believe it either lol), which means that I am in the process of becoming a PhD candidate. I wrapped up all of my required coursework, which took a huge chunk of my time and energy. On top of that, I started a new research project that I’m super passionate about! Exciting? Yes. Time-consuming? Also, yes.

When I first started this blog, my schedule was a little more flexible. I had time to write, edit, and even daydream about expanding it. But recently, my days have been packed, working 9-4 and then going home just to study. It has honestly been very overwhelming and hard to juggle. Right now, I’m focusing on passing my cumulative exams, which means even less free time and even more stress.

To try to keep myself sane, I’ve been trying to do one creative thing a week. This is something I learned from a fellow graduate student! I use this time to create something small and give my brain a break. And to no one’s surprise, it helps a ton! Through these creative moments, I was reminded about this blog and realized just how much I missed writing these silly little posts. So, here I am, back at it again and hoping it brings me (and maybe even you) a little joy every now and then.

A realistic plan (hopefully)

Instead of putting pressure on myself to post constantly, I’m aiming for one blog post a month. That feels the most doable for me right now! Just a brief check - in, some thoughts on grad school, chemistry class advice, or whatever comes to mind! No stress, no guilt – just a fun way to document the ups and downs of my PhD journey!

Thank you for reading and I hope you come back in a few weeks to see what I’ve been up to! <3
